About the role
The Communications Project Manager will be part of the communications and public affairs team, which branches off the Government and Public Affairs department. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to provide oversight and day-to-day project management for all creative, digital, and editorial projects. The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience and applied working knowledge and skills for navigating the creative production process, digital technology, and content management systems —?all of which are critical for delivering projects on time. In addition to project management, this individual will be expected to draft, review, and edit editorial copy.

Most of all — you must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and deadlines.?

To succeed, our team must be flexible, communicate clearly, and respond quickly. How we communicate is different today from even a year ago; we're continuously looking for new ideas that help in this fast-paced environment. We need a communications project manager who’s experienced, disciplined, confident, and willing to pick up tasks on day one and start producing multi-media messages.?

Knowledge requirements
In-depth knowledge of digital media technology, including video, photography, graphics, content management systems, and social media. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft products — particularly PowerPoint, and other applicable software to develop video and other creative materials. Must have a general and working knowledge of AP Stylebook.?

Roles and responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with several teams and departments across the organization.
  • Manage routine updates for G&PA as well as internal stakeholders to ensure deadlines and expectations are met.
  • Contribute to creative brainstorming with a focus on adding measurable value to the company.
  • Provide recommendations for enhancing digital content and messaging strategies.
  • Develop, produce, and deploy materials while coordinating oversight from internal project managers.
  • Solicit feedback from managers on work products.
  • Listen closely for uncovering new opportunities to identify new areas for cross collaboration and process improvement.

Candidate attributes
  • Collaborate:?Work with teams to understand priorities, provide solutions, and deliver updates.
  • Communicating:?Articulate deadlines, expectations, and potential roadblocks.
  • Planning:?Draft project plans and provide accurate, consistent routine updates.?
  • Problem-solving:?Be bold enough to offer new ideas and understanding enough to know that we may not try every idea offered.?
  • Discipline:?Manage work according to the approved plan and develop project updates for review and approval 30- 60- and 90- days in advance.
  • Be organized:?Maintaining order (both in the digital and physical sense) to ensure development and production materials are well organized and easily accessible.
  • Be creative:?Develop new content that helps build Company's brand. We're focused on setting a new standard, inspiring the audience, and building engagement.?
  • Detail-oriented:?Every project requires extra time for proofing. We have resources to help when needed, but you must be accountable for ensuring the accuracy of every deliverable.?
  • Be flexible:?Sometimes priorities change, and projects must adjust. As a team, we work through these changes together. Be flexible to know how we can adjust and maximize time and support.??
  • Be a self-starter:?Last, but not least, you must have the initiative needed to start a project and track progress without being asked.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in creative and/or communications discipline.
  • Experience: Five years of experience in a comparable role and corporate environment.

Skills and competencies
  • Project management:?Develop goals, milestones, and expectations for every project. Ensure teams are on track and aware of updates —?this includes weekly reports, file organization, and resource allocation.?
  • Storytelling:?Crafting the story is pivotal to our success. Whether it’s written in text or produced in a video, we must take a message or a problem and transform the content into a compelling and effective story.?
  • Tech-savvy:?Take time to dive into technical issues, explore new apps, and problem-solve. You’re the go-to person for identifying up-and-coming trends that will improve efficiency and effectiveness.?
  • Problem-solving:?You must be willing to dig into a problem and solve the issue, even if it means developing a new plan.?
  • Graphics:?Develop graphics, infographics, and motion graphics.?
  • Photography:?Understand the importance of photo composition and editing and have an eye for details.?

Work environment
  • This job is performed in a typical office environment, but our work is subject to time pressures and constraints and is often dependent on input from others.
  • Our projects don’t always have a long lead time for planning —?still, we must respond.?
  • Occasionally, we travel to events or other offices.?
  • Work is primarily based out of the office; however, there are times when support is needed after normal work hours or on weekends.??
