Job Title: Designated Duty Engineer (DDE) – 4000HP

Location: Offshore (USA)

Vessel Type: Offshore Supply Vessel (OSV)

Reports To: Chief Engineer / Captain

Job Summary:

The Designated Duty Engineer (DDE) – 4000HP is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical and electrical systems aboard the vessel. The DDE ensures the vessel’s propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems function safely and efficiently to support offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot main and auxiliary engines up to 4000HP.
  • Monitor and maintain fuel, lubrication, cooling, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on all mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Maintain records of engine hours, fuel consumption, and maintenance logs.
  • Ensure compliance with USCG, ABS, and environmental regulations regarding vessel operations.
  • Assist with bunkering operations and ensure proper fuel and oil management.
  • Work closely with the Captain, Chief Engineer, and deck crew to support vessel operations.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as engine failures, leaks, or fires.
  • Ensure spare parts and consumables are stocked appropriately.

Qualifications & Certifications Required:

  • DDE 4000HP License issued by the USCG.
  • STCW III/1 - Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW).
  • Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch (RFPEW).
  • Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties (VPDSD).
  • STCW Basic Training.
  • Advanced Firefighting (STCW).
  • Medical Care Provider Certification.
  • Valid TWIC Card.
  • Valid USCG Medical Certificate.
  • Knowledge of OSV operations, diesel engines, generators, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience working on offshore vessels preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote offshore environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, EMD, or other marine diesel engines.
  • Familiarity with DP (Dynamic Positioning) vessels (if applicable).
  • Previous offshore supply vessel experience.
