Job Summary

As an Employee Relations (ER) Specialist at the company, you will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s Vision, Values, and Commitments by fostering a fair, respectful, and compliant work environment. You will manage complex ER matters, conduct thorough investigations, and provide expert guidance to leaders and employees. While your primary focus will be on a designated geographic region, you may also contribute to cross-regional efforts when needed.

This role is based in one of the company’s home office locations (Reston, VA; Glendale, AZ; or Houston, TX). No relocation assistance is provided.

This is a part-time telework position requiring at least three days of in-office work per week. The schedule will be determined collaboratively between the employee, their supervisor, and project or functional leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct end-to-end investigations into workplace concerns, including intake, background research, interviews, documentation, and corrective action recommendations.

  • Handle complaints related to violations of company policy, such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and bullying.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on a variety of ER matters, including conflict resolution, policy interpretation, performance management, mental health concerns, and workforce changes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Human Resources, Ethics and Compliance, Security, and Industrial/Labor Relations.

  • Deliver ER training for managers and contribute to ongoing team initiatives and projects.

  • Use ER data to identify trends and recommend improvements to enhance the employee experience.

  • Support workforce reduction processes as initiated by project leadership.

  • Perform other ER duties as needed.


Education and Experience Requirements

Level 1:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of directly relevant work experience.

Level 2:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of directly relevant work experience.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in workplace investigations (preferred).

  • Proven experience conducting thorough investigations with sound documentation and legal defensibility.

  • Strong understanding of employment law and employee relations best practices.

  • Comfortable presenting findings to leadership, even in challenging or sensitive situations.

  • High ethical standards and sound judgment.

  • Proficiency with electronic case management systems.

  • Ability to work effectively across cultures and locations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a balance of empathy and directness.

  • Skilled in analyzing ER data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights.

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
