A JAB Recruitment client is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to join their team full-time (direct hire), in their Houston office.

- This role is onsite, full-time with some work from home flexibility.
Primary purpose:
To provide design engineering and scope development for facility/capacity expansions in support of business development objectives for the Company gas/oil pipelines and other associated assets. Provide engineering support for the Operations Control Center (OCC) and Field Operations which includes identifying hydraulic optimization efficiencies, reliability analysis, and operational troubleshooting. Coordinate transportation capacity on multiple interstate pipeline systems consistent with business objectives and governing tariffs.
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Provide conceptual engineering design and scope development for varying expansion projects, including route selection, equipment sizing (pipe, coolers, horsepower, etc.), preliminary cost estimating, and rate determination.
- As projects gain funding, work with project managers, operations, and contractors to assist with further refinement of conceptual engineering designs into detailed engineering designs up to and including field implementation (i.e., participating in the full life cycle of a project from concept to implementation to fully operational).
- Develop and maintain multiple transportation/hydraulic capacity models (WinFlow/NextGen), including tracking and reporting available capacity as necessary.
- Utilizing real-time transient models to assist the OCC in determining projected/predicted pipeline status.
- Routinely assess capacity utilization and identify system enhancement opportunities using both transient and steady-state modeling techniques.
- Work with operations, field maintenance, and projects on determining impacts of various maintenance/project work on operational capacities. Assist with work scheduling and operational set-ups/procedures to optimize/minimize identified impacts.
- Coordinate prospective capacity transactions with marketing and scheduling departments, including contract approval/optimization and updating Connect (gas scheduling software).
- Maintain system fuel, electric, and DRA utilization models.
- Provide engineering support for regulatory filings and proceedings.
- Provide engineering support for system operational issues and/or improvements.
- Review new projects to ensure operational practicality.
- Provide engineering guidance in the development of best practice operational methods.
- Participate in service availability evaluations and the implementation of advisories and operational flow orders.
- Regularly communicate with management regarding project status, goals and objectives.
- Act as a primary user of the Connect system - actively participate in Connect system development and maintenance.
- Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
- Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
- Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
- Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project/reporting duties as identified and defined.

Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
- Ability to work in a regulated environment that may include handling sensitive company and customer information.
- Must be knowledgeable in FERC Standards of Conduct (Orders 2004 and 497) and related policies, including the ability to attend training as required.
- Familiar with FERC regulations, tariffs, and contractual obligations.
- Familiar with DOT, EPA, OSHA, and other applicable pipeline safety and environmental, regulations.
- Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- High proficiency level in MS Excel and VBA.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Working Conditions:
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
- The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
- Demonstrated proficiency with pipeline and compressor simulation software.
- Familiarity with pipelines systems and operations.
- Direct work experience in the energy industry including a comprehensive understanding of the interrelated gas/oil control, field operations, and gas/oil scheduling processes.
- General understanding of capital project economics.
